* Combining Western mental health frameworks with Eastern healing modalities.
Katrina Deaton
"I am human, which means I'm unpolished and fractured in multiple areas. I have seen and experienced enough to know what it is to live authentically and with humility. To be of service is the active expression of my gratitude for a life fully lived. A certified Reiki Master Teacher and meditation instructor with a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I've worked with various groups ranging from at-risk youths to extremists, from prisons to shelters, to an office. I've found my comfort and place sitting in both a clinician's chair and a client's.
Through Warrior Too, I offer an immense reservoir of deep wisdom and compassion, void of judgment, ego, and insecurity, full of curiosity and openness.
I don't subscribe to perfection or an exalted image of myself. With collaboration and a commitment to a shared goal, my responsibility as a coach, counselor, and instructor is to heal and affirm the capabilities of others, thereby defying their own conscious and subconscious limitations. Together, by making an intentional effort to improve, have honest exchanges, and be our best at any given moment, we amplify our voices and optimize our potential, magnifying gifts and creating opportunities to support others and make meaningful impacts and changes."

and Expertise
Fun Fact: "For 8 months, I volunteered with an organization that reformed extremists. I worked alongside former nazis, skinheads, and jihadists to help individuals and their families who were currently in hate groups leave or escape them."
Practice Area 2
"I've worked with at-risk youth for over 20 years in various capacities."
I am practiced in working with victims of crimes.
"I am well-versed in mediation and reunification therapy."
* AND: "I am choosing to be a coach instead of a therapist because I don't want to diagnose people or use their diagnoses or symptoms to limit or determine their ultimate potential. I believe I'm more efficient and effective as a coach who has a mental health background that can use somatic and mind-body practices to empower and equip individuals to be more self-reliant. I believe my services are most potent when used in conjunction with therapy."

* Domestic violence and victim advocacy and services.
"I was introduced to yoga in 8th grade, but began to practice regularly in my 20s. Over time, it has become my church, gym, and therapy simultaneously. Despite the recent proliferation of “yoga apparel" and private studios, or “yoga with ____ (fill in the blank: power, heat, goats, etc), I am drawn to the simplicity of the fact yoga does not need any of those things to bring me into my body, mind, and spirit. That is the perspective from which I was taught and the perspective from which I share with others. I've also been working with survivors of abuse and trauma since my 20s and have come to appreciate the depth of the phrase “mind-body connection”.
"To me, it is magic, the ways we can grow and ground ourselves. But, I am equally fascinated by the science of it all, what happens in the brain as well as the mind, both in hurt and in healing. I have been privileged to share spaces of transformation in support groups, hospital rooms, shelters, and courtrooms in rural and urban spaces with people from all over the country and the world. The use of breath, motion, and sensory experience has always found its way into “conversations” (whether with an individual or lecturing to an auditorium full of people) and work I found most impactful.
I am fascinated by the mirror neurons in our brains that confirm the proverb, I am because you are. Learning and teaching are deeply intertwined. Warrior Too allows me to share what I have learned with others and continue to learn from each new experience. This, as much as any physical pose, is the practice of yoga and my devotion to support and advocate for those who need it."
